Gala evening at the Assago Forum for the 23 youngsters of the One Team project

Gala evening at the Assago Forum for the 23 youngsters of the One Team project. The Arcadia Institute students were able to attend the Olimpia-Olympiacos match, taking a tour of the club’s facilities and a special training session. An evening full of surprises for them and beyond. After getting off the bus, they immediately went to the locker room where they were able to put on their new uniforms. The vests made by Olimpia together with Scalo Milano immediately excited the boys, who were then able to visit the Forum’s secondary gym, the players’ locker room, the filming room and the clubhouse. Changed, they then took part in a special training session led by Peppe Poeta. The meneghino assistant coach, after talking about himself, tested the players’ reaction skills, inviting them to take part in a test that was anything but simple. In fact, they had to take turns clapping before picking up Poeta’s pass and not falling for his feints. An elimination contest that saw the lucky winner receive an autographed jersey from the host himself. After a few ball-handling exercises and a few minutes of ‘Guards and Thieves’ the boys were involved in a new challenge. Poeta was also able to participate in the competition, who helped the struggling teams. Remaining divided on two halves of the court, the boys then competed in a 3vs 3 with a change. Peppe, as a good playmaker, then invited everyone to a final test, that of being able to steal the ball. In the two heats, again, the winners were rewarded with an autographed jersey. After taking a selfie with Poeta, the coach was greeted by the Community One Team shout. Time for a quick stop in the locker room to get a team photo and then straight onto the court for the pre-game warm-up. The boys were then able to have the players autograph the card they received, taking a selfie with Kyle Hines. Another short pit-stop and immediately ready to position themselves near the tunnel of the locker room to give high-fives to the players, before taking the field with them for the official presentation of the team. Led by the One Team coaches, they then took their seats in the stands to watch the game, making a brief tour of the court at half-time for the presentation of the project, and in the third period to show the public the jersey received as a gift from Shavon Shields. It was certainly an unforgettable evening for many of them, in which their parents, who were also present as spectators at the Forum, were also able to participate. A magical atmosphere that we hope will remain etched in the children’s memories, making them even more passionate about basketball and Olimpia Milano.
