Nell’ultimo giro di incontri le sette classi prime dell’Istituto Arcadia hanno potuto riflettere sull’importanza della parola sostenibilità. Un termine che racchiude migliaia di aspetti che dovremmo conoscere e provare a realizzare il più presto possibile. Prendendo spunto dalle indicazioni dell’ONU contenute nel documento programmatico “Sport e Sviluppo Sostenibile”, abbiamo mostrato ai ragazzi come poter intrecciare sostenibilità e pallacanestro.
Dopo l’usuale urlo iniziale “One Team”, i ragazzi, guidati dal coach Domenico, hanno potuto apprendere i vari aspetti della sostenibilità attraverso un primo video seguito da un primo momento di dibattito. Successivamente in un secondo video, riportante l’esperienza di una squadra di basket hanno potuto conoscere una sua concreta applicazione in un campo da basket.
Seguendo l’esempio visto, i ragazzi sono stati divisi in due squadre e disposti in due postazioni diverse, attrezzate con tre bidoni della raccolta differenziata e una certa quantità di rifiuti.
Singolarmente e di squadra, si sono passati i rifiuti tra di loro, fino ad arrivare a far canestro nel bidone corretto.
La squadra ha guadagnato un punto per ogni rifiuto smaltito correttamente, ne ha perso invece uno in caso contrario. Lo stop è arrivato quando una squadra ha terminato i rifiuti. Il capitano della squadra, si è poi recato insieme ai coach a verificare il loro corretto smaltimento e il relativo punteggio. Ha vinto la squadra che ha dimostrato di differenziare meglio i rifiuti, totalizzando quindi il punteggio più alto.
Si sono susseguiti altri giochi, dove al centro c’era la collaborazione, il rispetto e la conoscenza.
Spazio poi a una breve partitella 4 vs 4, dove per poter effettuare un tiro a canestro ogni componente della squadra ha dovuto toccare almeno una volta il pallone. Prima del saluto finale “One Team”, i ragazzi, come al solito hanno dovuto rispondere a due domande sulla lezione fatta.
A conclusione dei 3 incontri, dopo la pausa delle vacanze natalizie, a gennaio ci sarà un momento di incontro e saluto finale per celebrare la prima fase del progetto One Team.

In the last day of meetings, the 7 classes of Arcadia Institute were able to reflect on the importance of the word sustainability. A term that encompasses thousands of aspects that we should know and try to realize as soon as possible. Learning from the ONU guidance in the policy document “Sport and Sustainable Development,” we showed the children how they could intertwine sustainability and basketball.
After the scream “One Team,” the boys, led by Coach Domenico, were able to learn about the various aspects of sustainability through an initial video followed by an initial moment of discussion. Then in a second video, reporting the experience of a basketball team they were able to learn about its concrete application on a basketball court.
Following the example seen, the boys were divided into two teams and placed in two different locations, equipped with three recycling bins and a certain amount of waste.
Individually and as a team, they passed garbage to each other until they got to the correct bin to make a basket.
The team earned one point for each waste correctly disposed of; they lost one if they did not. The stop came when one team ran out of waste. The team captain, then went with the coaches to check their correct disposal and the corresponding score. The team that demonstrated the best waste sorting won, thus scoring the highest.
More games followed, where the focus was on cooperation, respect and knowledge.
Space was then given to a short 4 vs. 4 game, where in order to make a basket shot each team member had to touch the ball at least once. Before the final “One Team” scream, the boys, as usual had to answer two questions about the lesson done.
At theend of the three meetings in January there will be a final meet and greet.
