Kyle Hines e Gigi Datome sono stati i protagonisti degli ultimi due incontri di Euroleague Basketball One Team.
I nostri ambasciatori si sono fatti “virtuali” per incontrare per la prima volta i bambini e le bambine del progetto che fino a quel momento avevano potuto conoscere solamente attraverso materiale video e foto.
Circa 60 bambini delle classi 5° della scuola Baroni di Gratosoglio si sono confrontati con i due campioni, in due appuntamenti distinti, un botta e risposta davvero emozionante e divertente che ha permesso ai bambini di sentirsi ancora più parte del campo.
Datome e Hines, da sempre sensibili alle problematiche di chi è più fragile, hanno potuto giocare virtualmente con i bambini che, a loro volta, hanno potuto togliersi tante piccole curiosità, ponendo loro domande su come avessero iniziato a giocare a basket, chiedendo quali fossero i loro ricordi più belli legati alla palla a spicchi, quale fosse la partita che più ricordavano perché carica di emozione, o su chi fosse il loro fans più scatenato.
Nelle due sessioni, nonostante la distanza fisica, è stato bello vedere trasparire i vissuti dai volti dei più grandi e dei più piccoli che, ad ogni scherzo o discorso serio, cambiavano espressione spontaneamente aumentando la sensazione di vicinanza e connessione, dando l’idea di essere un unico team.
Al gioco dei mimi hanno partecipato anche Gigi e Kyle che sono riusciti a indovinare le parole scelte dai bambini. Poi la palla è passata ai due ambasciatori che hanno provato a mimare a loro volta delle azioni o degli oggetti ritornando un po’ bambini. Non c’è un ‘età per divertirsi e per giocare, lo sport ci pone tutti sullo stesso piano.
Inoltre, i due giocatori hanno messo alla prova i partecipanti testando le loro conoscenze cestistiche; la mano aperta con il dito sotto, le due mani alzate che indicano rispettivamente il numero tre, il mimo dello schermo, tutti gesti che nella pallacanestro gli arbitri utilizzano per indicare un’azione specifica di gioco, per dimostrare che al di là dei titoli il progetto sta permettendo ai bambini di apprendere il linguaggio dei campioni.
I bambini non si sono fatti trovare impreparati rispondendo colpo su colpo agli indovinelli dei due, a volte anche stupendoli con le loro risposte precise e puntuali.
Tanti i consigli che i bambini hanno ricevuto dai due ambasciatori – giocatori, e tanti gli spunti sui quali lavorare prossimamente, su cui riflettere e “allenarsi”. E poi il regalo più grande, il messaggio personale che ogni ambasciatore ha lasciato alle classi : Kyle Hines ha spiegato che per diventare qualcuno o semplicemente per raggiungere un obiettivo, è molto meglio farlo tutti insieme, in squadra, perché l’unione fa la forza e si ha più potere quando si è team, mentre Gigi Datome ha sottolineato che ogni tanto capita di abbattersi quando le cose non vanno come vogliamo, però bisogna sempre trovare qualcosa di positivo e non arrendersi mai ,questo il segreto per migliorarsi e vincere ogni giorno. Ogni componente della squadra può donare qualcosa all’altro, momenti di incontro come questi alimentano il desiderio di scoprire ciò che un domani, anche in tempi difficili come questo, si vuole diventare.

Gigi Datome and Kyle Hines were the protagonists of the last two Euroleague Basketball One Team games.
Our ambassadors became “virtual” in order to meet for the first time the boys and girls of the project that up to that moment had only been able to know through video and photo stuff.
About 60 children from the fifth grade of the Baroni school in Gratosoglio were able to talk with with two basketball stars, in two separate appointments, a really exciting and fun time that allowed the children to feel even more as part of the team.
Datome and Hines, who have always been close to the problems of those who are more fragile, were able to play virtually with the children who, in turn, were able to take away many little stuff, asking them questions about how they started playing basketball, whiche were their early memories of basketball, what was the game they remember the most because it was full of emotion, or who were the wildest fans.
In the two sessions, despite the physical distance, it was nice to see the experiences emerging on the faces of the older and younger ones who, at every joke or serious speech, spontaneously changed expression, increasing the feeling of closeness and connection, giving the idea of being a single team.
Gigi and Kyle also participated in the game of mime, managing to guess the words chosen by the children. Then the ball was passed to the two ambassadors, who tried to mime actions or objects in turn, returning a bit like children. There is no age to have fun and play, sport puts us all on the same level.
The two players tested the participants’ basketball knowledge; the open hand with the finger underneath, the two raised hands indicating the number three, the mime of the screen, all gestures that in basketball the referees use to indicate a specific action of the game, to demonstrate that beyond the titles, the project is allowing children to learn the language of champions.
The children did not let themselves be found unprepared, answering blow after blow to the riddles of the two, sometimes even surprising them with their precise and punctual answers.
The children received many pieces of advice from the two ambassadors-players, and many ideas on which to work in the future, on which to reflect and “train”. Kyle Hines explained that in order to become someone, or simply to reach a goal, it is much better to do it all together, as a team, because unity is strength and you have more power when you are a team, while Gigi Datome explained that every so often it happens that we lose heart when things don’t go our way, but we must always find something positive and never give up, this is the secret to improving ourselves and winning every day. Each member of the team can give something to the other, moments of meeting like these feed the desire to discover what tomorrow, even in difficult times like these, we want to become.
