Olimpia Milano has reached a multi-year agreement with Nicola Akele, a 2.03mt forward born on November 7, 1995, in Treviso, coming from Virtus Bologna.

NICOLA AKELE – “I’m coming to Milan with great ambitions and ready to give my all to achieve our team goals. I’ll try to be ready every time I will get the chance, with the goal of helping Olimpia reach the highest possible heights in Europe too. I’m happy, excited, and can’t wait to get to know a club I’ve always heard great things about, even from foreign players, such as their mentality and organization, which are among the best in Europe. So, personally, I consider this opportunity a privilege.”

HIS CAREER – After starting out in Montebelluna and Mestre and making his Italian league debut in Venezia, Akele left Italy in 2014 to attend the IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida. From 2015, he attended for three seasons the University of Rhode Island. In 2017 and 2018, he helped the team win the Atlantic 10 Conference tournament, qualifying for the NCAA Tournament. He played 96 games at Rhode Island. In 2018, he returned to Italy to play for Roseto, and eventually for Treviso, Cremona, Brescia, and Bologna. In 2023, he won the Italian Cup with Brescia; in 2025, the Italian league championship with Bologna. He participated to four European championships with the Italian National Team at the Under 16, 18 and 20 levels. He played for the senior national team at the 2025 European Championships.
