After a slow start defensively, Olimpia took over between the second and third quarter against Napoli and dominated the game, 125-97. Olimpia shot 75 percent on twos, made 16 threes, went 23-for-25 from the line and dished 28 assists. Between second and third, Olimpia scored 71 points and opened a gigantic margin that was never threatened. “We played a serious game, as I expected. We should be even more consistent, because the first period at the defensive end of the floor was a little flat, but the way we played in the middle quarters was excellent, because we raised the pressure on defense and we shared the ball on offense,” Coach Peppe Poeta said. Shavon Shields had a terrific third quarter when he scored 13 straight points on his way to 17. Zach LeDay had 16 points on 6-for-8 on mid-range and close range shots and added eight rebounds. Leandro Bolmaro was dominant because he contained Naz Mitrou-Long at one end of the floor and added 24 shooting the lights out in the second half. Olimpia took over in the middle of the second and finished with Armoni Brooks’ three to close the half up by 20, 63-43. The third period was no different. At the end Mattia Ceccato, a member of the Olimpia’s junior team, made a corner three. It was his first professional field goal.
