Olimpia lost 83-74 in Brescia, unable to sustain the effort put together in the first period which was almost a continuation of the great EuroLeague week in the back. Olimpia led by as many as 14 points twice in the opening quarter, but its defense had a big letdown between the second and third period. Brescia scored 49 points over 20 minutes and progressively took control of the game. Olimpia attempted a late comeback, reducing the lead to six points but too late. Kenny Gabriel with the fifth three of his second half close the game off. Olimpia struggled to contain Brescia’s shooters. Despite Della Valle’s 1-for-6 and Petrucelli being held way under his scoring average, Brescia had a big night from David Counooh who went 4-for-4 from three. He led the comeback in the second quarter and made a huge three at a critical juncture. Olimpia had 10 threes, but never found any rhythm during the last three periods and its defense down the stretch wasn’t slow. Shabazz Napier led the scorers with 17 points but struggled against the tough physicality of Brescia guards. Davies and Ricci scored in double figure, 12 and 10 points respectively. “We had a good start but progressively we disappeared, our energy tank was empty. Some players who were good lately tonight looked tired. We knew he could have happened because we have played so many tough games lately. Now, we move on to Istanbul hopefully to play a good game in 48 hours.”
