Coach Sergio Scariolo met the Spanish media in Madrid this late afternoon and made the following statement: “The day after the Olympic final I met the Spanish Federation Presidente Mr. Saez and told him I was going to leave my position as team coach after four fantastic summers, full of success but laso very demanding. At the time I was asked to take my time and reflect for some more months. I did, but it didn’t change my mind, because the decisione has been motivated by the desire to spend more time with my family after four years full of sacrifices. I want to thank my players for respecting me, the effort and how they cared about the National team. I want to thank my staff for the hard work and for supporting me. And finally I want to thank President Saez for his trust, his high consideration showed by asking me to stay and then to propose me to stay in a different capacity we’re going to define in the next days”.
