A dominant 26-8 second quarter got the job done in Sassari for Olimpia in a commanding 92-63 road win. Olimpia finished the first half ahead by 24 and finished the opponent with a 13-0 start that included eight points by Tim Luwawu-Cabarrot. Olimpia played impressively at both ends of the floor. Sassari resisted for one quarter when it was able to reduce a seven point deficit to two. But it was Olimpia all over the floor. In the second quarter Nicolò Melli used his defense to generate offense. Billy Baron hit the threes to open an enormous lead that reached 42 points in two different moments. Olimpia improved to 8-1 in the Italian league. This was its fourth road win. Luwawu-Cabarrot scored 21 points, made all of his threes, added six assists, five rebounds and a terrific on the ball defense. Brandon Davies added 16 points in 21 minutes, was 5-for-5 from the field and 6-for-7 from the line. Finally, Billy Baron scored 16 points and uncharacteristically grabbed six rebounds. “We knew entering into this game that we needed a high level game to win. It is never easy in Sassari. We played a very determined and confident game, we used great attention and concentration,” Coach Ettore Messina said at the end.
