Zach LeDay was named MVP of EuroLeague Round 15 after his performance in Barcelona in which he had 37 personal rating points, had a career-high 33 points scored, eight fouls drawn, went 9-for-9 from the line, was perfect from three-point territory, 4-for-4. During the current season, LeDay was also MVP of Round 7, following Olimpia’s win against Virtus Bologna. It is the first time he has earned the recognition twice during the same season. He was also Round MVP in 2018/19 with Olympiacos (against Buducnost) in Round 10 of that season. He is the second Olimpia player to win more than one MVP after Shavon Shields.
Before him, the following players were named Round MVPs while playing for Olimpia: Mike Hall (2008/09), Omar Cook (2011/12), Curtis Jerrells (2013/14), Alessandro Gentile and Samardo Samuels (2014/15), Jamel McLean and Ricky Hickman (2015/16), Mike James (2018/19), Shavon Shields (2020/21 and 2023/24), Nicolò Melli and Brandon Davies (2022/23), Maodo Lo (2013/24).
Zach LeDay is currently fifth overall in personal rating (21.2), he is the ninth-best scorer (16.7), is first in three-point shooting (56.7 percent), third in fouls received (6.3 per game). LeDay is shooting 91.9 percent on free throws, 15th overall, but fourth among those who have made at least three free throws per game and the only one above five made foul shots per game.
His 37 rating points registered in Barcelona represent the Olimpia’s fifth-best figure in the EuroLeague era after Samardo Samuels’ 47 (2014/15), Shavon Shields’ 41 (2020/21), the 38 recorded last year by Maodo Lo and Nikola Mirotic. The 33 points are the fourth-best performance by an Olimpia player after the 36 that Samardo Samuels scored in Nizhny Novgorod in 2015, the 35 that Mike James had during the 2018/19 season and finally the 34 scored by Shavon Shields in GAme 5 of the 2021’s EuroLeague playoffs vs Bayern.
