Olimpia set the tone early in its home opener and cruised to a 100-75 win over Sassari.<\/strong> The opponent kept control of the game for the first three or four minutes, leading 5-0 and 10-6, but Olimpia responded early, had a 12-0 run and never looked back. Zach LeDay (15 and six) was the first to raise the intensity level, then everybody fell in line. Nikola Mirotic broke the game down in the second quarter with a barrage of field goals. Neno Dimitrijevic was huge at both ends of the floor, with a couple of backcourt steals, crispy passes and 10 points. In the end, Coach Ettore Messina allowed himself to play everybody and nobody was on the court for more than Pippo Ricci’s 22 minutes. “We pushed the tempo, we shot well, it was a very good game. At the half we had 12 assists and just two turnovers. It was a great stat and we pointed it out to the guys,” he said. With Josh Nebo out, David McCormack started at center and finished with nine points and five boards. Ousmane Diop spelled him. Both of them made some great plays especially at the defensive end of the floor and some mistaked, especially at the offensive end of the court. “David has huge potential – Messina said – He just need to become a faster decision-maker, not let everybody crowd him.” However, the Coach remarked, because of the Supercup commitment at some point McCormack – like Fabien Causer and Armoni Brooks – had to sit out for an extended time and they became a little rusty in the process. The only negative note of the night was Leandro Bolmaro’s left ankle injury. He had to leave the game early and never returned. He will be re-evaluated soon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
