The third quarter doomed Olimpia’s chances in Venezia. <\/strong>A 20-5 start, one field goal in the entire period, seven points scored from the line, decided the game. Olimpia attempted to comeback several times including in the last couple of minutes when it reduced the deficit to four points and twice had possession. But a turnover and then a missed shot allowed Reyer to close the game with a 78-72 win. “it wasn’t about the last couple of possessions, it was about being very flat defensively for many minutes. We played good defense only in the fourth period and because of it we gave ourselves a chance to maybe win the game. Here, you have to be different, everyone has to bring something to the table, otherwise we are in trouble,” Coach Ettore Messina said. Olimpia’s game was definitely not a very ggod one. No consistency, low shooting percentages, many unforced errors, including missed free throws. Fouls were another problem especially early in the game when all the bigs struggled. Melli first, then Hines and finally Mirotic. “But I don’t think they affected our game. Caruso’ minutes were good ones, very promising for the rest of the season.
