All of a sudden in the fourth quarter, when Olympiacos was playing with a solid lead, Olimpia took off led by Giordano Bortolani three-point shooting and one more three made by Stefano Tonut. So, what was once a 15-point lead kept been reduced until Shabazz Napier with two free throws and a drive tied the game up at 74. Unfortunately, Olympiacos finished better and closed the game off with a 5-0 run especially a three-pointer from the corner made by Nigel Williams-Goss. 79-74 was the final score.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

There are no moral victories in the EuroLeague. But it looked like one of the few in Piraeus. With five players missing (Mirotic, Shields, Baron, Lo and Ricci), Olimpia started the game with a big lineup but struggled to score. Olympiacos hit the ground running, 10-2 after four minutes. But the bench provided a spark, especially Diego Flaccadori, who had 11 first half points, and Stefano Tonut who began the game with two straight threes. The second one pushed Olimpia up 19-18 at the end of the first quarter. In the second period when Olimpia momentarily took a two-point lead, Olympiacos started a good run with a couple of Larentzakis long-distance baskets. At the half, it led by five. The third quarter belonged to Olympiacos and its inside game that created opportunities for everybody the 15-point lead looked definitive.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Not yet. The fourth period was almost a masterpiece. Even when Olympiacos scored off a couple of broken plays, Olimpia kept executing. Bortolani had an impressive 11-point night including a dunk on a break, Tonut was all over the floor and Napier was sharp at setting the tempo. Olimpia tied the game up with momentum in its favor when Williams-Goss made huge contested corner three that essentially determined the outcome.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
