Olimpia minus three starters<\/strong>\u00a0(Devon Hall, Shavon Shields and Kevin Pangos) used all it had in the third quarter when a 13-point halftime deficit was canceled because of a terrific team defense that held Bologna to one point over eight minutes. But it wasn’t enough. Olimpia, trailing by as many as 16 points in the first half, finished its energy late in the third quarter and succumbed 75-69 at the end, although it was able to stay close and comeback within one in the fourth quarter. “When we got the lead we had, I believe, three straight turnovers. Probably we didn’t have the energy to keep going – Coach Ettore Messina said – Unfortunately we had a bad first half, we allowed 49 points in the first and 26 in the second, Marco Belinelli had 12 points in the first half and was scoreless in the second when we adjusted well. With no Pangos, Hall, Shields we have been pushed one month back, all the things we built over the last few weeks evaporated,” Olimpia started Pippo Ricci at the 3, but was plagued all night long by low three-point shooting percentages. Bologna went 12-for-34 for three, Olimpia was 6-for-25. Billy Baron (20 points) was the only one finding some rhythm. Shabazz Napier, who had 16 points using his dribble drives to go to the rim or to the line, was 0-for-6 from three. Bologna hit the ground running, with Belinelli scoring at will early. Gradually, Olimpia came into the game, getting within eight a couple of times in the second quarter. But just before intermission, Nico Mannion made a huge buzzer-beating three that push Milan down by 13. The third period was huge, started with a 11-0 run, and even after Coach Scarioo time-out, Olimpia kept pushing, getting steals, running on the break. However, a couple of unfortunate turnovers, misses, bad breaks kept the team from extending the biggest lead of three. Bologna led by Kyle Weems regained the lead at the end of the period and kept it through the end.<\/p>\n\n\n
