Over the two middle quarters, Olimpia held Panathinaikos to 23 points and built its 10th win of the EuroLeague season, a commanding 75-54 triumph.<\/strong> Down by four at the end of the first, Olimpia gradually took control of the game, won the second quarter holding the opponent to 10 points and exploded in the third period. Olimpia had a 12-0 run early in the third the broke the game apart. While te defense was impressive, with four steals almosta consecutive early in the third, the offense took advantage of some great individual explosions. Troy Daniels was the first to show some consistency, then Sergio Rodriguez (nine assists) hurt Panathinaikos’ defense by generating easy dunks and lay-ups for everybody, particularly the big men. When he also stole a ball at midcourt and hit Devon Hall for two easy points, the lead became comfortable. Devon Hall finished the job with an amazing fourth quarter when he scored 12 consecutive points, kept defending hard. Kyle Hines had also 14 points with 6-for-7 from the field. “We moved the ball more in the second half, we made some big plays with Devon Hall and Kyle, who created shots also for the other players. We kept our solid defense and I think we got a well-deserved win. We had a lot of great contributions from many players tonight. Panathinaikos used to be a tough match-up for us, because of their size, how the clog the middle, eliminating the inside offense with their switches and zone defense. I need to congratulates my players,” Coach Messina said. “Every win in the EuroLeague is important – Kyle Hines added -. This is a long season and a grind.
