Virtus Bologna took control of the championship series after a 83-72 win in Milan<\/strong>, in a game that was close since the beginning. Olimpia’s effort again was not supported by adequate shooting, in spite of 11 threes made. Overall, Milan went again 20-for-60 from the field, defended well, but in the fourth quarter, two straight threes made by Stefan Markovic and Alessandro Pajola pushed Bologna over the hump and toward the win. Olimpia also struggled with foul trouble, especially with Kevin Punter who was forced again to play only three minutes in the first half, right when Milan tried to get away after a five-point lead in the first. Malcolm Delaney suffered with a groin injury late in the game, but tried to come back. “They played with energy, our effort was there, but we weren’t fresh, we didn’t have legs to play good defense and to shoot better. Now, being down 2-0, to say we are in a hole is an understatement. We are going to Bologna, play Game 3, see what we can do,” Coach Ettore Messina said. Shavon Shields led the scorers with 16 points, Sergio Rodriguez added 13 and Kevin Punter 12. Five players scored in double digit, but Olimpia went 9-for-30 from two, tried to make up earning trips to the free-throw line and scored only 13 points in the fatal fourth quarter.
