Olimpia got the job done.<\/strong> The win in Brescia, 91-79, kept the team undefeated in the Supercup qualifying round (5-0) So the first place was clinched and a berth for the Final Four (Bologna, 18-20 September) has been gained. Olimpia didn’t shoot particularly well from the field (9-for-25 from three-point range) and struggled in the paint where Brescia used some size to outrebound Milano 43 to 27. And still, Olimpia managed to score 91 points and led most of the night. Brescia approached the game aggressively and with four threes in the opening quarter at one point built a five-point lead. Olimpia responded and took advantage of its defense late in the second to make three steals in a row on its way of a 50-39 lead at the half. Again, after Brescia mounted a comeback in the third, Milan was able to find the right solutions. Sergio Rodriguez replaced the Malcolm Delaney of “game 1” to lead the team offensively with 17 points and five assists. Five players scored in double digit. “They controlled the tempo of the game – Coach Ettore Messina remarked at the end – and rebounded the ball well, an area where we struggled a bit, but in a shooting night not particularly bright we managed to score 91 points and get the win. I’m glad because we clinched a berth for the Final Four and in the process our captain Andrea Cinciarini did a lot of good things, which is great. We have a lot of work to do, both athletically and basketball-wise, but this group is coming together well and has the quality to do some good things down the road.”<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
