He attended  the Tucker High School and then the Providence College. After two years of lacking playing time, he averaged 14.2 points per game as a junior, while setting a season-best of 25 against South Florida. In 2010\/11 he averaged 24.6 points per game, led the Big East Conference in scoring and had 52 points in one single game, versus Notre Dame, on February 23, 2011, when he went 20\/28 from the field. His 52 points tied the Providence record and set the new Big East record. Brooks had 35 in the second half only and 15 in the last 2\u201957\u201d. He had 43 points against Georgetown too. His 468 points in Big East competition were the All-Time best and  his 1629 put him in ninth place in the Providence All-Time scoring chart. He was named in the NCAA\u2019s third team. In the 2011 NBA draft he was selected with the number 25 by the Boston Celtics and traded immediately to the Brooklyn Nets. In 56 games he averaged 12.6 points per game and was named in the All-Rookie second team, playing also in the All-Star Rookie Game. In 2012\/13 he set his career-high scoring 27 points against Cleveland. In the month of July 2013 he was included in the big trade that sent Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett to the Nets, so he went back to Boston.
