Olimpia took the first punch but this time was unable to absorb it. Olympiacos’ three-point shooting in the first half was amazing, the defense too passive and the game was controlled by the league-leading Olympiacos since the very first possessions. Olimpia responded when it was too late with a barrage of three-pointers, steals and good defensive possessions, it was even capable to shrink the margin from 18 to five points down in the fourth quarter but it was not enough to pose a serious threat to the home team. Andrew Goudelock led all the scorers with 20 points braking loose in the fourth period when he finally made three consecutive threes after a three-point play on his way to a 14-point fourth quarter outburst that came too late. Olimpia missed too many open shots (it was 1 for 9 from three in the first half), for a while missed event too many fouls shots and unforced turnovers plagued its game. Mindaugas Kuzminskas in his debut was a little rusty, missed foul shots and was a little tentative but that was expected, generally speaking he was active, drawed six fouls and played his classic all-around game. “This game was not good. So far we have been able to play up to anybody level in this EuroLeague but tonight we didn’t believe enough. We started the game too soft defensively, made easy mistakes offensively, missed foul shots. When you play on this court, in order to compete, you have to play a different type of game.
