Olimpia came up short in Udine, once again losing control of the game and the game itself over the last five minutes or less. Udine was good at taking advantage of it prevailing 86-83. <\/strong>Basically, Olimpia led for 35 minutes, was up by six points at the half and by seven after three quarters. After leading by eight points several times, the led reached ten points early in the fourth quarter on a Stefano Tonut’s corner three. Then, up by eight with five minutes on a Leandro Bolmaro drive, Olimpia stopped to execute both on offense and defense as it has happened so many times during the season. “Mostly, it happened in EuroLeague games, tonight in the Italian league, too”, Coach Poeta remarked. It was a 11-0 run that turned the game around for Udine, led by a devastating fourth quarter by Semaj Christon. After consistently leading, looking pretty much in control, suddenly Olimpia found itself in trouble. Zach LeDay with a three-point play tied the game up but only momentarily. Nico Mannion – 19 points made a three and Armoni Brooks attempted another to force overtime but it was done in vain. It was strange type of game because LeDay scored just three points, way below his standards in a night plagued by early foul problems; Armoni Brooks missed all the threes he attempted, scoring 11 points with nine free throws and finally Devin Booker didn’t play in the second half because of knee pains. Despire all of that, Olimpia played well and controlled the game for 35 minutes. “I was glad with the way we were playing, we looked solid against a well-organized team, on its home court. We were fatigued maybe but fatgue didn’t prevent us from playing 35-36 minutes. Then we started to play with no consistency, no sharpness and without sense for what a possession means. It’s been happening constantly, generally in the EuroLeague. At this time, if we intend to really try to win the championship, we need to improve quickly,” Coach Poeta said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
