The big news in terms of Olimpia’s jersey numbers is the return of the number 6. Despite its great tradition, the number 6 had remained “on the bench” in recent seasons.<\/strong> Devin Booker will instead wear it, after having worn number 31 at Bayern, which is owned by Shavon Shields in Milan. At Olimpia, the number 6 is the number worn in the 1960s by Gabriele Vianello, the sensational Venetian scorerwho also won the 1966 European Cup. Eventually, the three most significant “owners” were Pino Brumatti in the 1970s, Franco Boselli in the 1980s, and Flavio Portaluppi in the 1990s, all members of the club’s Hall of Fame.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Other interesting facts: Vlatko Cancar, who also wore number 31 in his Denver’s NBA days, will wear the number 0; Nico Mannion, after a year spent wearing number 2, will return to his favorite number, 1; and Quinn Ellis, who wore the 1 in Trento, will wear the jersey number 3; while number 2 will instead be taken by Lorenzo Brown, who wore it both at Panathinaikos and with the Spanish national team (on other occasions, such as in Kazan and Maccabi, he wore the number 4, which is traditionally banned at Olimpia). Bryant Dunston will remain tied to his customary number 42, which in Milan was worn only by Kyle Hines: from one European basketball legend to another. Finally, Marko Guduric will continue to wear his traditional number 23, as he has done throughout his career. The history of the number 23 in Milan involves Keith Langford – he used it for two years – then it was worn by Malcolm Delaney for another two fruitfully seasons.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
