Olimpia tried to compete, was relenteless in its chase but came up short and lost to Fenerbahce 80-74. In the end hearth was not enough. Olmpia fought through David Moss’ foul trouble (and he was really great defensively and offensively in the first half), through losing Alessandro Gentile at halfitme due to back problems and against the size and depht of the opponent. Fenerbahce virtually solved the qualification issue. Olimpia has still work to do but right is in the driver’s seat. MarShon Brooks had a terrific second half scoring all of his 17 points after intermission; Samardo Samuels worked hard in the middle; Coach Banchi finished the game strong with the small line-up; Daniel Hacket threw his hearth beyond the obstacle, grabbed 10 rebounds and led the furious rally in the fourth. Olimpia was within three in the last minute but Fenerbahce executed well down the stretch. Unfortunately a Brooks three-pointer for getting within one missed; Hackett missed a driving lay-up to get again within two and Cerella missed one free throw to get down by two with 50 seconds left. In the end Feberbahce was too much. Too much size, versatility and talent in the closing minutes when both Goudelock and Huckman made huge threes to keep Olimpia from completing its rally.
