Olimpia didn’t close the game out when it could. Three or more times, but led wire-to-wire, dictated the tempo and never looked back in a 79-71 win over Varese that improved the Serie A record to 3-0. Four players scored in double figures, Abi Abass, Milan Macvan, James McLean and Davide Pascolo but many more were brilliant. Ricky Hickman distibuting the ball, Alessandro Gentile playing with great energy for example. Olimpia was able to respond to the incredible athleticism of Varese’s big men, especially the shot-blocking machine Norbert Pelle, and the shooting barrage of Aleksa Avramovic and in some moments Melvin Johnson. “For us, to play after a EuroLeague game, is gonna be difficult mentally and physically, especially because everybody want to do well against us, players, coaches, everybody. So we need to kill the games when the opportunity arises. Otherwise it’s gonna be more difficult, more exhausting”, Coach Repesa said  at the end.
