Vlado Micov’s Three won the game 71-70 for Olimpia in Venice, against the defending champions and so far unbeaten at home. With a bettere defensive effort in the second half, Olimpia tried to secure the game late in the third, but went ice cold early in the fourth, starying five inutes scoreless. The defense kept the team afloat then and prepared a sequence of improbable plays. Austin Daye, who was on fire in the second half, made the three that broke the tie. A couple of possessions later, Sergio Rodriguez (19 points and three assists) made a three himself and tied the game again. After the timeout, Mitchell Watt with a tip-in gave Venice a two-point lead. Jeff Brooks from the line uncharacteristically missed two foul shots, only to see Michael Bramos, a shooting specialist, missed a pair of his own. That prepared the table for Micov dagger. A magnificent three that won the game for Milan. “The game could gave gone both ways – Coach Ettore Messina said -, but it’s important to be consistent and we were better defensively especially in the second half when we held them at 29 points.” For Olimpia it was the fourth consecutive Italian league win, sixth of the last seven.
