The Killer did it again. With the time expiring, Vlado Micov found himself in the right position. The ball in his hands, the clock running out of time, Olimpia down by one. He let if fly. Nothing but net. Olimpia won 83-81 after an overtime in Valencia, in a crazy game. Milan blew up a five-point lead in the last minute of regulation when it was up by five but allowed a three-point play by Antonio Abalde, then two free throws by Bojan Dubljevic and a big-time floater by Micov with seven seconds left was canceled again by an Abalde runner with two seconds remaining. In the overtime, Olimpia led after the first possession when Micov made one of his two free throw, then Valencia took control, built a five-point lead that was kept until the last 30 seconds, more or less. Sergio Rodriguez (16 points and nine assists) made a three to cut the deficit to two, then made two free throws to cut it to one, after Abalde missed the first foul shot of thne entire game. Down by one, Olimpia spent a foul on Quino Colom with seven seconds remaining. Colom uncharacteristically missed both, leaving the door open for a last-second shot. Rodriguez dribble the lenght of the court, was trapped, didn’t see the light, but he saw Micov open at the top of the key. He let it fly. The buzzer sounded when the ball was in the air. Nothing but net. 83-81 Olimpia. “I was happy for my players, they worked hard and still lost several games in the fourth quarter and they deserved to win some of them. Tonight we helped their comeback in the regulation with a couple of mistakes, then we fought with a lot of heart and took the win. I don’t have much to say, but I’m very happy for my players,” Coach Messina said at the end.
