Pallacanestro Olimpia EA7 – Emporio Armani Milano agreed on terms with the head coach Luca Banchi who’s been signed for two more years, until 2016.

Born the first of August, 1965 in Grosseto, Luca Banchi is Olimpia’s coach number 20, he was the first to lead his team to the Euroleague playoffs since 1997. He also completed the second half of the Italian regular season with no losses, winning 21 consecutive league games in the meantime. Under his wing, Olimpia won all its regular season home games, all its Top 16 home games and in the domestic league the streak extended to 19. He’s been the first Olimpia’s coach to win the championship in his very first year and the second coach to win the championship in two consecutive seasons with two different teams. In the last two years his “elimination games” record in Italy is 6-0. He’s won six more championships as an assistant coach and three junior championships as head coach with Don Bosco Livorno. He finished second in the coach of the year voting behind the Cleveland Cavaliers newly appointed coach, David Blatt.
