Too many things went wrong in Vitoria, a game born under the weather, with the last minute losses of Mannion and Tonut that left the team with five perimeter players only and 11 players overall. Baskonia dominated the entire game, closing it 88-78. Olimpia had some good moments, at times even turning the game around, but never for long enough time. Turnovers, especially in the first half, several missed open shots, including many of them at the rim, and some struggling at rebounding and on fifty-fifty balls doomed Olimpia’s chances on a night when Baskonia certainly showed more aggression, more sharpness, and more energy. It was their fifth consecutive home win, where they are capable to fuel their uptempo game, this time finding in Matteo Spagnolo what they hadn’t found in Markus Howard, and then an extraordinary performance in crucial moments by Tim Luwawu-Cabarrot. Leandro Bolmaro led Olimpia with 16 points and repeatedly looked good; Armoni Brooks added 16 points; Booker had 13 points, 11 in the first half while Shields struggled early in the game (one point in the first half, nine in the second) but finished better with 10 points and seven rebounds.
