After the Zalgiris game, Sergio Rodriguez became the fifth player over 1,100 assists in the EuroLeague history. Rodriguez has dished six assists reaching 1,105 for his career. Ironically, his assist average of 4.68 per game is identical to that of the All-time leader Vassilis Spanoulis. However, the Greek phenom appeared in 304 games against the 236 games played by Rodriguez so he is out of reach at – currently – 1,422 total assists. Rodriguez is 21 assists from the fourth place held by Milos Teodosic and 71 shy of the third place of Thomas Heurtel, the FC Barcelona point-guard, unfortunately momentarily out due to an injury. Dimitris Diamantidis, second with 1,255, is no longer active.
El Chacho also achieved another historic result on Friday night: he scored three three-pointers and reached 381 for his career, tying Jaka Lakovic, Ulm’s current coach in Germany, at the seventh position. Juan Carlos Navarro is first with an unheard of figure of 623 threes, over 150 more than the threes made by the second in the list, Milos Teodosic. However, among the top 10 of the all-time list, Rodriguez is the most accurate, the only one over 40.0% from three in his career.
