Three players scored 23 points—Shavon Shields was devastating in the first half, Devin Booker in the second, and Armoni Brooks was more consistent—fueled Olimpia’s at times very entertaining game in the 101-88 win over Reyer. Olimpia led for virtually 40 minutes out of 40, but at three different moments Reyer took the lead, showing determination and a will to never give up. But in the last part of the third quarter and then in the fourth, even when playing without a point guard, with Guduric as the primary ball handler and Tonut trying to shut down RJ Cole, Olimpia played well (24 assists) reaching a 16-point lead at one time. Then, after slowign down a little, they had the poise to defend on the final possession, stealing the ball and putting the ball on Pippo Ricci’s hand for a 3-pointer that closed the deal 101-88, a 13-point promising margin. While three players scored 23 points, three also had more than five assists (Ellis, Bolmaro and Shields), while Brooks pulled down seven rebounds, a team-best.
