Panathinaikos made 53 percent of its three-pointers, scored 45 points from the arc or 33 more than Olimpia scored. Jordan Theodore was ejected in the middle of the third quarter when he was sanctioned with a technical foul (flopping) that added to the flagrant foul he was called for in the first half determined his ejection, a dramatic turn of events for Olimpia. In spite of all of this, with Curtis Jerrells forced to play 11 minutes because of his injuries, Olimpia led by as many as 13 points, forced Panathinaikos to push itself through the end and lost in the last three minutes. Andrew Goudelock returned after a one-month absence to score seven points in a limited effort. It was a very frustrating game that Olimpia lost, the byproduct of some evitable mistakes, of a hot shooting night by Panathinaikos and because losing Theodore at the critical juncture was a devastating blow. 80-72 was the final score. “We are a little unlucky in this EuroLeague – Coach Pianigiani said – because one more time we have been able to play at the level of this great Panathinaikos team on its floor and still couldn’t win for a matter of details or because as a team we are collectively unexperienced at this level, a trait exemplifies by Theodore’s ejection. But I cannot say nothing to my players. We’ll keep pusging in order to finish the season strong, no matter the standings”.
