For the second straight season, Olimpia had its worst game of the Italian Cup in the championship game. This time it was Trento taking the trophy after a stellar 79-63 triumph. Olimpia was deserted by its three-point shooting making one of its 21 attempts, by far the worst shooting performance of the season, and none in the second half. Trento’s defense took almost everything away from Olimpia and with no outside shooting to open up room in the middle, the offense stagnated and crashed against a wall (18-for-43 on twos, too). The game was close for the first 18 minutes; Trento closed the first half better than Olimpia building a seven-point margin. The second half with the exception of of few possessions was one-sided. “We had a poor game, only a few assists, no ball movement, only individual useless initiatives. The stats are telling everything. We didn’t have anything. Maybe it was the sixth game in 13 days but it shouldn’t be reason to play a game so poor,” Coach Ettore Messina admitted.
