The Supercup didn’t find its way to Piazzale Lotto: Olimpia couldn’t duplicate the semifinal effort, against Reggio Emilia, couldn’t complete another comeback and lost 80-68. Free throws and turnovers frustrated the effort. Olimpia didn’t have the same energy late in the game and Reggio Emilia deserved to win its own first Supercup. EA7 looked for somebody to take the team over his shoulders but mostly could find somebody only in spurts: Alessandro Gentile early in the game, then Krunoslav Simon and Andrea Cinciarini in the second half but it wasn’t enough. “After our kind of preseason we couldn’t be fluid offensively but we didn’t read the situations well, it was a game to play with the head first and the heart second. We didn’t play well but I expected honestly to do a little bit better and to finish better. But Reggio Emilia deserved to win and now we have to close ourselves in the gym and build our system”, Coach Jasmin Repese explained at the end.
