A Robbie Hummel’s tip-in at the buzzer apparently was worthy of an overtime but the instant-replay allowed the referee Luigi Lamonica to rule it a little too late and Olimpia lost the game 74-72 in Reggio Emilia. With Coach Jasmin Repesa, blocked in Dubrovnik because of a death in his family, Olimpia struggled early in the game, went down 9-1 and closed the first quarter which was closed down by 12. Then, it missed the first nine second quarter shots, went down by 16 and found a way to stay in the game because of the defense. The second half was a battle. Olimpia came back many times on several occasions but wasn’t consistent enough. In the end, after being pushed down by eight againt, had furious rally, determined by back to back threes made by Cinciarini and Gentile. Olimpia was within one, forced to foul. But De Nicolao and Della Valle combined for 4/4 from the line. Cinciarini was fouled on a three-point shot but made only two. Gentile again was fouled on a three with less than half a second left. He made the first foul shot but missed the second and had to deliberately miss the third. McLean touch the ball, Hummel then had the tip-in right. But the instant-replay canceled it and gave Reggio Emilia the 74-72 win.
