Daniele Magro with a buzzer-beating jumper from the corner closes the game with a 72-69 win for Olimpia over Banvit in Bandirma after a seven-point scoring spree by Kruno Simon had allowed EA7 to come back and take the lead for good. Essentially the series will be decided one week from now in Mediolanum Forum where Olimpia will start with a 3-point lead. Olimpia overcame several difficulties: it started the game ice-cold with an 11-point first period, went down by 10 early in the second half, but responded. Many players had their moments, including Charles Jenkins with a win-sealing block on Courtney Fortson in Banvit’s last possession. It was a huge team effort because Olimpia had a short rotation and foul troubles because of that. Oliver Lafayette was a scratch from the trip and cut the perimeter players rotation then before the game Milan Macvan had to sit out because of flu-like symptoms. So Rakim Sanders had to play some minutes out on the perimeter and some minutes as a big and he even finished the game as an acting-five. Olimpia was already with no Bruno Cerella and no Alessandro Gentile. They couldn’t make the trip. But EA7 played a tough game, a smart one and was resilient enough to close the deal in the end.
