Olimpia had one of those nights and made a quick job on Vanoli Cremona, winning 118-83. After leading by as many as 19 points twice in the first half, Olimpia allowed Vanoli to comeback within 11 at the half and six very early in the third period, when Cremona scored nine points in the first three possessions. But while the defense had some down moments, the offense was sharp all night long. Olimpia never lost its composure, kept moving the ball and finding the open man. Cremona never had a chance. At the end, Olimpia shot 14-for-31 from three-point range and an incredible 31-for-38 on twos. Armoni Brooks led the scorers with a beautiful display of shooting prowess. He had 29 points, 7-for-7 on drives and five three-pointers. He was a monster of consistency. And he wasn’t alone: Nico Mannion added 21 points and Stefano Tonut 14. They started the game at guards and hit the ground in attacking mode. Giordano Bortolani came off the bench to add 16 points on 6-for-8 from the field. So, the last three minutes were dedicated to the young guys: Diego Garavaglia on a reverse lay-up scored the first field goal of his career; 7-foot-3 center Luigi Suigo added four points and four rebounds. “We very careful, we moved the ball, we shot well, Brooks particularly of course, but it was good effort from to start to finish against a team coming off some very good games. We played to the end, respecting the opponent, respecting the game despite missing Mirotic”, Coach Messina. Nikola Mirotic was a late scratch for some intestinal problems that affected him.
