Pallacanestro Olimpia Milano reached an agreement with power forward Christian Burns, 2.03, an American player with a passport and Italian eligibility, a member of the Italian National team, coming from Pallacanestro Cantù.
HIS CAREER – Born in Trenton, New Jersey, on September 4, 1985, Christian Burns began his career at Hamilton High School in Hamilton, New Jersey. In his last season there, he was named player of the year for the Mercer County and was included in the All-State third team. His college-level career began at Quinnipiac in 2003 but after two years he moved to Philadelphia University. In his second year, 2006/07, he won several individual trophies including that of Division II Player of the Year. He averaged 21.7 points, 11.2 rebounds and 2.1 blocks per game. Undrafted in the 2007 NBA draft, he then played in Poland (AZS Koszalin), Portugal (FC Porto), Germany (Ulm), Ukraine (Ferro Zaporozhye), Israel (Elitzur Netanya) and made his debut in Italy in 2012/13 in Montegranaro (14.9 points and 7.0 rebounds per game). The following year he played in Russia (Enisey Krasnoyark), and then in the Czech Republic (Nymburk where he won the national title), the United Arab Emirates (Al Wasl) and finally he returned to Italy first in Brescia (11.4 points and 6.6 rebounds in 23.1 minutes of playing time) and then in Cantù (14.2 points, 10.0 rebounds per game in 30.5 minutes of action).
NOTES – Burns played the 2017 European Championships with the Italian national team. During the last season in Italy he was first overall in index rating (25.4 on average) and rebounds (10.0).
