Olimpia Milano has reached an agreement to extend the contract of Captain Giampaolo Ricci until 2027. “I’m happy for the opportunity to continue my journey with Olimpia for two more seasons, at least. Milan is like a second home to me. I’m proud to keep fighting, growing and building something special for our colors and our fans.”
Giampaolo Ricci, born in Rome on September 27, 1991, 2.02 mt tall, power forward, came to Milan in the summer of 2021, coming from Virtus Bologna. In the summer of 2024, he was named co-captain of the Olimpia Milan team. He won the 2023/24 Italian championship with an average of 3.6 points per game; the 2022/23 championship with 3.8 points and 2.1 rebounds per game, shooting 59.3 percent on twos and 42.6 percent on threes; he won the 2021/22 championship, averaging 3.5 points and 3.1 rebounds per game during the playoffs. He won the 2024 Super Cup with 5.0 points and 3.5 rebounds on average and the 2022 Italian Cup, scoring 5.7 points per game in the final three games. Ricci made his debut for the Italian National Team on November 29, 2018, in Brescia, in a win over Lithuania. He played in the 2021 Olympics in Tokyo (4.3 points and 2.7 rebounds on average), the 2022 European Championships and at the 2023 World Cup, he averaged 9.6 points per game.
