Simone Pianigiani is about to start his work as Olimpia Milan head coach: “Coaching Olimpia is a great opportunity which creates a great sense of responsibility. It’s obvious when you are working for a club with this kind of history and this kind of present. A club with a European aspirations. It’s a moment I’m living fully aware of the opportunity to take a lot from this glorious past. Personally, everyone knows about my relationship with Coach Dan Peterson since I was a kid: I grew up reading his basketball books, admiring the fighting team of his time. Dino Meneghin was a big part of that team. And I was lucky enough to know him better and appreciate Dino when he wanted me as the National Team head coach. It is clear that there are so many aspects involving and affectiong me from a personal standpoint but what prevails is this huge sense of responsibility and the great motivation to succeed in bringing out on the court that same competitive spirit and that same winning mentality of the teams that came before us, with the stated goal of building an equally important future. “
