It took way less than 20 minutes to solve game 2’s enigma. Olimpia jumped all over the place, took an immediate lead and never relinquished it on its way to a commanding 89-68 win, even bigger than it looks. Brescia was annihilated from the start when Olimpia shot 7 for 11 from three in the opening period and established its defensive intensity. It was a sharp game. Olimpia dominated the first half, 60-31 and the second half was pure garbage time. The series is now tied up at 1. Game 3 and 4 are in Brescia on Monday and Wedsneday. Andrew Goudelock led the scorers with 15 points in 21 minutes but Olimpia had six players in double digit and one more scored nine points. Nobody played more than Bertans’ 25 minutes. The only adjustment was made with the starting line-up with Gudaitis replacing Tarczewski but the minutes stayed basically the same. “The execution was different. Our offense was pretty good in game 1 but defensively we missed many assignments – Coach Simone Pianigiani said – Tonight it was another story. I expected from my team this kind of answer, approaching the game because I know the guys and I know what they are made of. Obviously I couldn’t predict that we were going to play so well, that everything was going to be done perfectly as tempo, shooting selection, defense and that we’re going to up by 29 in the first half”. But there no time to celebrate since game 3 is just around the corner: “Tonight we played before a spectacular crowd: there was a lot of enthusiasm in the building. Playing those kind of games in this kind of atmosphere is great for our team, to establish experience playing together. We want to come back here as soon as possible, taste this crowd again. This is our biggest motivation going in Brescia. We need to win one at least in order to be back here and play before this crowd and feed off its energy”.
