Eleven game, the first ten split between the two teams and the last one going to overtime. Sassari won it and moved on to the finals while Olimpia’s run is over. There are a lot of regrets after a season of many victories and no trophies to show for them. Game 7 was one for the ages. Olimpia had a better start, Joe Ragland scored 11 points in the first period alone to lead EA7 to an 11-point lead. But Sassari never gave up, they came back in the second quarter, tried to get away in the third. Olimpia responded. Took control of the game in the fourth but couldn’t finish the job. It was bad luck for sure, it was uncapable to finish a couple of plays offensively ot to get the decisive rebounds. With 9 seconds to go, keeping a one-point lead, Bruno Cerella was fouled and made the ensuing free throws. In a mysterious Melli’s foul (he was injured on the play), Dyson went to the line, made the first and missed on purpose the second. The ball bounced back and forth in the lane, Dyson made another attempt and he missed but somehow the ball found Rakim Sanders for an easy buzzer-beating lay-up that cancel Olimpia’s two-point lead. In the extra time Sassari made the right plays and won 86-80.
