Olimpia’s defense took over in the second half and led Milan to a 78-71 win over Valencia. With the score tied at 43 at the half, Olimpia held Valencia to 10 points in the third quarter and took control of the game and when the lead was reduce from 12 to three in a four-possession span, Luis Scola made a three, had an assist and pushed back the rally. Bojan Dubljevic scored 20 points in an impressive shooting display in the first half, but was held to zero in the second when Olimpia managed to attack him at the other end of the floor. Amedeo Della Valle scored 15 first-half points including two buzzer beating field goal at the end of the first two periods. Sergio Rodriguez struggled with his shooting, but had eight assists on his way to become the third best passer ever in the EuroLeague. Kaleb Tarczewski had a double double and guaranteed a presence in the middle. “It wasn’t an easy game, coming off a losing streak – Coach Ettore Messina said at the end -, in the second half it looked a lot like a do-or-die game, we could be nervous, but we had a solid second half, we held them to 10 third quarter points, we moved the ball, had 18 assists, found some resources among the second unit, Della Valle of course, who had his first excellent game after the injury that sidelined hime for some weeks.”
