Torino took an early lead, than tried to stay close but in the end Olimpia’s defense took over in the fourth quarter holding the opponent to 13 points on its way to a 90-78 commanding win, the 8th in a row, good to preserve the first place in the league. Olimpia, playing without Vlado Micov and Jordan Theodore, shared the minutes and had something from everybordy. Andrew Goudelock scored 23 points in just 27 minutes, Andrea Cinciarini had a terrific all-around effort adding 14 points to his team-leading six assists. The Tower of Powers inside took over in the fourth with their inside energy. Torino was effective in the first half while riding the bigs with its pick and roll, but Olimpia adjusted in the second half and basically eliminated the play while Tarczewski and Gudaitis took control of the rebounding battle. “It’s been a good game because the energy level was very low but we’ve been able to do our job and defensively out fourth quarter was good against a talented team with players willing to do something special here”, Coach Pianigiani said after the game. “Our centers for example didn’t have much but in the fourth quarter they made the great plays down the stretch at both ends of the floor”, he added.
