Olimpia’s defense took over in the second half when the offense stuttered a little bit after a 52-point first half explosion. In the end, Olimpia defeated Partizan 85-79. Zach LeDay led the scorers with 20 points. He set the tone early with two threes and a three-point play and finished the job late when Partizan attempted a comeback. Having lost the last two EuroLeague games squandering a late lead, Olimpia had some trouble holding off the opponent and struggled a little offensively. The defense saved the night because Partizan was never able to take the lead. On top of it, Olimpia had to overcome the injury (right elbow) that eliminated Leandro Bolmaro from the game in the third quarter right after entering the game, subbing Marko Guduric. Coach Poeta used a combination of Guduric and Ellis to initiate the offense. Ellis was huge in the second half with three timely long-range jumpers. Another one was hit by Guduric and one more by Ricci. Olimpia opened up a 12-point lead entering into the fourth, then again was able to keep Partizan at distance with Ellis again and LeDay late jumpers and free throws.
