Olimpia will try to regroup and bounce back from a tough Game 1 loss in the Italian League championship series. Virtus Bologna won 83-77 and take home-court advantage away. It was a hard night: Olimpia led 6-0, but after that trailed for the entire game, going behind by 18 in the third quarter. Olimpia refused to lose, tried hard to comeback, and in a matter of minutes after six hard-fought minutes in the fourth quarter, shrank Bologna’s lead to two points. Stefan Markovic responded with a deep three, Marco Belinelli made a driving lay-up and the game was basically over. Even when regained momentum, Olimpia struggled to score, made just 20 of its 60 attempts and was effective only when attacking off the dribble earned some trips to the line. It was Olimpia’s first playoff loss, this season, and also the first time Virtus defeated Milan during the course of the year. The bes-of-seven series will resume on Monday night in Milan before moving to Bologna for Game 3 and 4.
