The first half of a 80-minute long game didn’t go as planned. Olimpia was badly outrebounded, allowed 25 offensive boards and when found a way to comeback from 15 down to 3 with three minutes left it was Peppe Poeta, the 31-year old Trento’s point guard to save the day for Aquila. He completed a 3-point play then made the second long three of the night and turned the tide around. Trento closed up by 10, 83-73 and will bring that margin into the second half of this quarterfinal Eurocup game to be decided in Milano on Wednesday. Trento had simply more energy and aggressiveness while Olimpia showed signs of fatigue and was again without Kruno Simon and Charles Jenkins. “Given the way we play losing by 10 is stillb a success – Coach Repesa commented at the end – I’ve never seen in such an important game a team allowing 25 offensive boards and still losing by 10. It was just the first half and I’m positive we can do better in Milano because finally we can pratice well now and we need the work. We are playing with guys injured. They should be stopped but we can’t so I also hope the return of Simon and Jenkins will be helpful”.
