At some point it was 1987 all over again. Coach Dan Peterson – celebrating his 80th birthday – was the Man and Olimpia simply used its defense to destroy Aris from tip-off right to the buzzer. Olimpia had six players in double figures, controlled the boards, made life miserable for Aris’ offense and ran on the break while also shooting over 47 percent from three. It was a dominating 95-54 win that secured the first Eurocup win. “The energy level was great and everything started with our defensive effort. In such a short phase it is important to won and possibly to win big. We did that tonight. When we have some daya to prepare we usually play well” Coach Repesa said at the end. He inserted Daniele Magro in the starting line-up for the first time. Milan Macvan scored the first eight Olimpia points and set the tone but everyone gave his contribute troughout the game.
