Coach Simone Pianigiani asked for a tough game, no frills, only substance playing less than 48 hours after the Madrid battle and without Andrew Goudelock (last minute scatch due to a slight injury). Once more Olimpia answered the call and won 78-74 against Barcelona. The three-point shot deserted Milan, the fluidity was not there but Olimpia fought against everything including its own fatigue, a Navarro trip into his youth (11 straight points) and a 15-point second quarter deficit. That was when Olimpia responded and came back late in the half closing the gap and tied it up at 39. Late in the fourth Olimpia simply wanted it more. Jordan Theodore attacked the rim and scored 19 points while dishing 7 assists. The two bigs, Kaleb Tarczewski and Arturas Gudaitis combined for 19 points and 18 rebounds, kept Kevin Seraphin under control and were great from start to finish when Gudaitis made two key tip-ins. Without his best scorer, Coach Pianigiani used his creative side, used never seen before line-ups including one with three point-guards and a sky-high intensity. It was the first EuroLeague win and a well-deserved one after playing three great games against the strongest competition.
