A 30-11 run in the fourth quarter, and generally a second half where it allowed only 26 points, ignited Olimpia’s win over Treviso, 91-67. The game was close for almost 30 minutes, when Treviso made good use of its dynamic lineups, but eventually the defense took the game over, Olimpia controlled the boards after making the presence of its big men felt and finally found some offensive rhythm. “We changed the course of the game, when we used some physical and mental aggressiveness and started winning some individual matchups,” Coach Ettore Messina said. Olimpia rested Sergio Rodriguez and Vlado Micov, Nemanja Nedovic returned after an injury, Paul Biligha was again used as a power forward (“He gives us some physicality inside, I’m planning to keep doing this for a while,” Messina said), Keifer Sykes was at his best in the fourth quarter and Arturas Gudaitis made some more steps in the right direction. He and Kelab Tarczewski combined for 23 points, 16 rebounds – evenly split -, 6 for 6 from the field. Gudaitis went also 7 for 7 from the line. Sykes added to his 19 points (he was 9 for 9 from the line) also 10 assists. When Olimpia took away in the fourth, Coach Messina had the opportunity to rest his regulars some more and used the entire roster. Unfortunately, Riccardo Moraschini had to leave the court earlier with a left calf injury that will be re-evaluated tomorrow.
