Olimpia took the game against Scafati over late in the first quarter, then handled it the best possible way, protected Nico Mannion – who sprained lightly his left ankle early in the game – shared the minutes among twelve players, used the last regular season game to give Josh Nebo much needed minutes. Finally, Faben Causeur returned and gave Armoni Brooks the chance to rest for one day. The game was essentially a no-contest that Olimpia closed by winning 100-72. Now, Trento is coming up in the playoffs’ first round. Josh Nebo led the scorers with 12 points, six players scored at least ten points including Nikola Mirotic, Pippo Ricci, Leandro Bolmaro, Giordano Bortolani and Diego Flaccadori. The latter came into the game early after Mannion went down and ignited Olimpia’s run with defense, steals and points. Olimpia finished with 25 assists and nine turnovers. “We will start the playoffs from fifth place – Coach Ettore Messina said – but for us it is much more important to be healthy, to have Nebo back, a crucial player. Last season, we started the post season with a home loss with Trento, then Billy Baron went down, Shavon Shields was out for the rest of the series, but we won three games, played well, and gained confidence for the rest of the playoffs. What I mean is that everything can change perspective in a second.”
