Olimpia took over on the middle of the fourth quarter that so many times during the season has been a nightmare and won in Belgrade against Partizan 88-81. “We moved the ball, we sacrificed and in the fourth period we allowed them to just score 16 points. That was the key,” Coach Ettore Messina said. Olimpia had a letdown in the second quarter when Sterling Brown made a couple of consecutive three-pointers to start a very effective night for him and suddenly Olimpia found itself down by 12 points. Armoni Brooks made a huge three that changed momentum. Olimpia was able to place a 12-0 run and tie the game up before going down by four at the half. The game remained close throughout the third quarter but the fourth period belonged to Olimpia. Nikola Mirotic, who struggled early to get into a rhythm, was his usual self in the second half. Nico Mannion set the tempo scoring and involving his teammates like he does in the better days. Even Ousmane Diop in his return game with minutes restrictions had a huge impact wirh six straight points. In the end Olimpia took a lead and kept it. Five players scored in double digits led by Mirotic’s 19 points effort.
