Olimpia took the game over in the fourth quarter and kept its winning streak alive at six, after defeating Trento 82-75. “I was scared about this game, we are not used to practice so much while playing one actual game in 15 days, this is why we struggled to find our rhythm. Fortunately the guys were great at keeping their composure. They kept playing and finally our defense went up a notch and the offense started to move the ball like we normally do. I’m glad,” Coach Ettore Messina said.
Olimpia started the game on a good note, its defense stayed in control and allowed Milan to lead 19-12 after the first quarter. The following two quarters were different. JaCorey Williams was a monster inside, Gary Browne took over from the perimeter and occasionally Toto Forray and Jeremy Morgan helped them. Olimpia struggled and found itself trailing by as many as four points on different circumstances.
Then, the fourth quarter happened. Trento was held scoreless for basically five minutes, and Olimpia after re-taking the lead with a Sergio Rodriguez’ three, got away in a matter of minutes. Michael Roll was sensational from the perimeter, keeping his hot shooting streak alive, on his way to score 19 points. Shavon Shields was everywhere and scored 24 points. Rodriguez had a career-night dishing 12 assists. “But Andrea Cinciarini’s impact was huge, for grit, desire and defensive presence,” Coach Messina remarked. He had three steals in the second half, igniting some crucial fast-breaks and one point he made also a protecting-the-rim block on Forray.
